Smart agricultural machines, sensors and data processing services have assisted farmers by providing an abundance of information that help optimize the farming practices. However, to date, the interoperability of these systems is limited and, so is their flexibility to adapt to the specific needs of individual farmers. With ATLAS, we aim to realize cross-system data sharing. This will allow the farmer to get all available information and services for his machine operations.

As highlighted in the AEF ISOBUS Database Improvements Press Release issued before Agritechnica last year, Self-Certification is here! But what exactly does it mean?

Last year in October a new AEF team was formed, composed of security experts from several AEF member companies. Norbert Schlingmann, General Manager for the AEF, sees the new team addressing the AEF organization’s need for a strategic approach to security “The definition of a strategy for security and the work on a secure AEF business model for the next generation of ISOBUS functionalities, are among the main drivers for the formation of this team.”

Following on from the very successful High Speed ISOBUS presentation given at the Landtechnik conference in November last year, this edition of the newsletter seemed to be the right time to give a progress update as well as provide a bit more background about Project Team 10. (Just in case you were not at the conference, the information presented can be found on the AEF website in the Activities Section).

After our disappointment at having to cancel the AEF Spring Plugfest in Lincoln due to on-going concern over the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) and related travel restrictions, we are focusing on the preparation for the Fall Plugfest, which will be held from October 13 – 16, 2020 in Stuttgart at the Maritim Hotel.

Sjaak Bontje 1956 – 2020

Hello team,        

It is with great sadness that we write this today, about Sjaak Bontje and his sudden passing. Sjaak had an extremely successful career and contributed to Powell Electronics in incredible ways. He was involved in the AEF and has participated in Project Teams 3, 7 and 10 – High Speed ISOBUS, working tirelessly to help create AEF Guidelines for the agricultural industry. Sjaak was very passionate and cared deeply for the work of Project Team 10 knowing it would help the industry worldwide. Sjaak carried his message worldwide to customers continuing to educate them on the ISO standard and many times introducing and training them on how to design the ISO products into their unique applications.

This EFDI guideline provides an extensible communication system concept and defines rules for adding new functionalities to cover specific use cases for the communication between ISOBUS machines and FMIS systems.
